Coventry City took their time but they delivered the result that the City support wanted from their day out when they came from behind to beat MK Dons 3-1.

In a show of strength to send a clear message to Coventry City, it’s employees and the Otium Entertainment Group that they cannot dictate where and when we want to support the team, the Sky Blue Army gathered in numbers for the first time since a march had seen the streets of Coventry taken over.

This time, seven thousand City supporters from as far away as Ireland and Denmark joined those closer to home in the invasion of Milton Keynes.

Supporters packed onto trains, coaches and cars in a sight to behold and made their way to stadiumMK.

After two defeats, victory for both sides was imperative and Steven Pressley had been busy on Thursday bringing in Chris Dagnall, Danny Seaborne and Chris Maguire on loan until January 5th.

Seabourne and Dagnall both started for City in their yellow away kit, in what was a wonderful atmosphere with the Sky Blue song ringing out against the background of empty seats in the home areas .

In the fifth minute, Callum Wilson used his pace to win the first of two corners. The second was cleared and Murphy saved with his feet from Powell before a corner was conceded by Christie.

Five minutes later and sections of the City support burst into a minute's applause for Steven Pressley and the team, followed by a "SISU Out" chant and another chorus of the Sky Blue song.

The Dons were quite nippy down the left flank and one cross in the 15th minute fell for Patrick Bamford to fire over.

In the 26th minute, City were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area. That was blocked and three minutes after, the Dons had a free kick in a central position. Blocked by the wall, the ball fell for Shaun Williams to shoot wide of Murphy's left hand post.

Seaborne wearing number 15 looked comfortable at the back whilst Dagnall in the 21 shirt was left to get what bits and pieces there were in a half where City needed to raise their tempo.

It was route one football that won City a 41st minute corner that again failed to produce the goal that City wanted before the break.

There was a goal before half-time but it fell to the home who had Bamford head over and in their last attack of the half. Ben Reeves went to ground very easily from a shove and Shaun Williams sent Murphy the wrong way from the resulting penalty.

After a break where MK Dons stretched the word entertainment to new boundaries with some bloke's warbling having to blocked out by the more tuneful City support.

Coventry came out and won two corners inside the opening five minutes following a Fleck rocket shot that was pushed away for a flga kick and a Baker free kick which sailed over in the 55th minute.

Baker fired into the side netting as City continued to press with a 58th minute corner.

But in the 64th minute, off went Carl Baker and on came Chris Maguire for his debut. Within seconds, Chris Dagnall got the ball and sent a looping, deflected, shot that dipped into the net to send the City support into raptures.

The Dons defence started to lead a charmed life with one block and McLoughlin making a reaction save and beating away a Maguire break and shot.

With four minutes to go and the momentum firmly with the Sky Blues after Dons loanee Dale Jennings missed a sitter, City got the ball on the right of the area and were awarded a free kick. Chris Maguire took it and launched a stunning right footed free kick in to the net.

The away end went mad with pitch invasions that saw the corner flag removed and it happened again, just before stoppage time when City had another free kick. Chris Maguire again took it and delivered a wonderful kick into the net to the left hand top corner, sparking more pitch invasions and complete pandemonium in the away as the City support royally celebrated a much needed 3-1 win.
