Coventry City won their tenth away game of the season with a 2-0 victory at AFC Bournemouth.

At a very friendly club where we were invited into their Legends Bar for a drink, we joined a good turn out of 747 City supporters in the stand opposite the Main Stand of a three side Goldsands Stadium.

Arron Martin, who had joined on loan from Southampton was given his debut for City in the yellow away kit, whilst Cody McDonald back from a stint at Gillingham and David Bell, fresh from helping the U21's to victory, were on the bench.

The game had just started when there was an injury to Carl Dickinson who was elbowed in the face. The game was delayed for five and a half minutes and blood was cleared up before play restarted.

Immediately, City won a corner followed by Gary McSheffrey firing low at Jalal.

In the 6th minute, Joe Murphy pulled off a fantastic save from Matt Tubbs. Lewis Grabban came in and fired wide and then won a tenth minute corner.

Murphy was a busy man pushing away a Grabban shot, following a Richie cross.and in the 14th minute, Dickinson sent a poor header back and the ball fell to Wes Fogden with only Murphy to beat. Thankfully, Fogden somehow stroked the ball wide of Murphy's left hand post.

In the 18th minute. City won a corner but when the ball came back to Carl Baker. He sent the ball out for a throw in on the opposite side.

The work rate from Eddie Howe's side was excellent and was putting City under pressure.

City did have a good chance in the 22nd minute when Christie did very well to find Franck Moussa who hit a good shot which Jalal got at the second attempt.

Murphy saved from McQuoid twice before City won a 36th minute corner. Yet again, the ball from Baker failed to reach the first man and play ended up with a corner to the Cherries.

Baker headed away that corner but in the 40th minute, the City supporters were going mental when Leon Clarke broke through and thumped the ball into the net from eight yards.

The Cherries were on the attack at the start of the second half and it was only thanks to a hook from Bailey that Bournemouth, who won two corners straight after, did not take a 47th minute lead.

By the 51st minute, Bournemouth had won five corners, forcing Lee Carsley to pace nervously in his technical area.

Leon Clarke hit a good shot at Jalal before the Cherries started to put the pressure back on City. Nathan Cameron cleared for a corner before Arter fired over in the 66th minute and Moussa aimed one at Jalal two minutes later.

Another two corners for the home side followed as did a double change for Eddie Howe's side.

In the 75th minute, David Bell came on for Gary McSheffrey with a  chant of "We Thought You Were Dead" welcoming him on to the pitch.

A great block from Martin whose size came in handy with some of the balls the Cherries were sending over, kept City in it. With the City fans cheering Bell's every touch and the passes he completed, the Sky Blues continued to remain stout in defence.

The Cherries completed their changes but it was to no avail as following a free kick, Mr Hooper and the City fans spotted a handball by Grabban from a Bell cross and a penalty was awarded.

Carl Baker stepped up and scored, sparking wild scenes in the away end.

A minute into stoppage time and Cody McDonald came on for Leon Clarke as City royally celebrated their tenth away win of the season.
