Danny McSheffrey With The Cup

Coventry Sphinx won the Endsleigh Midland Football Combination Challenge Cup Final beating Feckenham 3-2.
Sphinx who finished second in the Midland Combination Premier Division and won the Coventry Evening Telegraph Cup with a 5-0 victory against Brooklands-Jaguar at Highfield Road on Wednesday, took an eighteenth minute lead through a cheeky Wayne Pulford back heel.
Ryan Field equalised for the Redditch based side on the half hour mark. But three minutes later,Sphinx were back in front when a John Woodhouse corner was headed on by Pulford for Paul Woods to chest in at the far post.
On the hour mark,Sphinx who were watched by City stars Gary McSheffrey and Michael Doyle in a crowd of 277 went further in front when Jamie Towers broke through on the right and found the net with a low drive.
Feckenham reduced the arrears in the 65th minute when keeper Ian Brookes misjudged a through ball and Brian Powell tapped into an empty net but could not prevent skipper Danny McSheffrey and Adam Knibbs, from lifting the trophy that Sphinx officials, supporters and players call The Willie Knibbs trophy in memory of the former Sphinx boss who was tragically killed coming back from watching his side win a game at Meir in this competition in November 2001.
