RUGBY TOWN 0-2 COVENTRY CITY BY KEV MONKS
City Reserves eased past Rugby Town with a 2-0 victory.

Alan Cork brought to Butlin Road,a mixed side, with Isaac Osbourne,Ben Turner,Claus Jorgensen,Andy Morrell and Liam Davis all having first team experience.

With Paul Fletcher and Mel Branigan in a small crowd of 158, City playing in their Sky Blue home kit,had the first chance in the fifth minute when a Claus Jorgensen twenty yarder whistled well wide of the post.

Five minutes later,a Faysal El Drissi free kick produced a corner. The Moroccan took the flag kick, sent it deep for Liam Davis to jump and head the ball forward. Andy Morrell got another touch but a defender on the line headed the ball on to his own crossbar before it was hacked away.

El Drissi fired into the side netting and this was followed by Liam Davis beating off the challenge of four defenders before slotting the ball past the far post.
For a time the Southern League Premier Division side gave City as good as they received. They were thwarted in the nineteenth minute when Dave Stone rounded Cameron Belford only for a superb block from Ben Turner to prevent a goal.

Stone thought he had scored three minutes later when he curled past Belford. Some of the home support were on their feet cheering too,but the ball bounced off the far post and Turner was around to clear the danger.

Cameron Belford had a fine game in goal and made a terrific save from a 26th minute Danny Hall ten yard shot.

In the 39th minute,City took the lead. Claus Jorgensen got into the area after good work by Davis. His right footed shot was cleared only as far as Faysal El Drissi who turned inside the six yard box and blasted into the net.

The lively Moroccan, who last season was playing with Mustapha Hadji at FC Saarbrukken, forced Fazir into a save straight after the restart and the home keeper produced another six minutes later from a Gooding drive.

With Ange Lourougnon replacing Ryan Lynch, City played some attractive passing football. El Drissi also had to be replaced when he limped off in the 73rd minute.

City wrapped up a workman like performance with ten minutes left when Man Of The Match Ben Turner was first to react to a loose ball in the penalty area and the defender/striker thumped an unstoppable shot into the net from nine yards.
