Coventry City face a nervous end to the season after a passionless performance saw them beaten 1-0 at Nottingham Forest.

The way City have played of late, the City support which I reckon was around the 1500 mark (officially given as 2,283) was a lot more than anticipated and yet again it was one that deserved a better performance for the time and money we laid out to watch this drivel.

Many City supporters had said before the game that they could not see where the next goal was coming from and Freddie Eastwood whose time at Coventry City has so far bought him a new Bentley and us only three goals to cheer, was guilty of wasting the best chances City created in the opening period.

Keiren Westwood kept City in the match when he pushed a 20th minute Luke Chambers header onto the bar.

Forest showed why they went into the game third from bottom of the Championship as some of their passing including from Isiah Osbourne playing against his brother Issac, was woeful.

Eastwood missed when Morrison set him up at the far post in the 28th minute.

Thirteen minutes later, he had a chance but his attempt came off a defender and went for a corner.

Forest came out fired up by their manager Billy Davies, and after only 37 seconds had taken the lead.

The ball came over from Dexter Blackstock and James Perch was able to get in a low drive that beat everyone and went into the net.

Those who had been ejected at the break for a stand off with the Forest fans on the other side of a fence and a three deep line of police, were missing nothing.

Eastwood skied another one into the end where the City fans, who were now either quiet or launching into choruses of "Twist N Shout" were housed.

The Forest fans, on a sunny afternoon, made the most noise when Mr Tanner got another decison wrong by bringing back play when there was a clear advantage.

In the 68th minute, Elliott Ward was caught in two minds and the ball fell to Dexter Blackstock who got in a shot which Westwood brilliantly pushed over the Trent End cross bar.

Scott Dann had to be replaced in the 68th minute and is now out for the rest of the season.

The lack of passion continued and even when Ashley Cain came on in the 74th minute in a like for like switch for Robbie Simpson, there was no urgency from City to get anything out of the match.

A stoppage time shot from Elliott Ward went wide when it looked easier to get it on target but City again were a beaten side and now will seek to get something from the home game with Barnsley on Tuesday night to make sure that they don't finish fourth bottom for the second successive season.
