Coventry City avoided becoming the first club to lose at Leyton Orient this season when they snatched a late 2-2 draw at Brisbane Road. ‎‎

On a lovely sunny and mild November morning, the City support which included supporters from as far away as Denmark, set off for East London.

The travelling support which was 1161 strong, ‎arrived at Brisbane Road, some via the few hostelries that currently exist around this part of London, some via the poppies to remember those in the first World War at the Tower Of London and some via an appearance on Soccer AM.

It had been a busy week for the Sky Blues with Arron Martin and Gary Madine coming in on loan, Jordan Clarke going out on loan and Seb Hines having to return to Middlesbrough for treatment for a hamstring tear.

With Conor Thomas also suspended for picking up five bookings, Steven Pressley again in his suit, had to change the team from the one which had come from two goals down against Peterborough United.

The last tiime City won at Orient in 2012, Ryan Allsop dropped the ball for David McGoldrick to score the winner‎ but today, Allsop was on the bench as Lee Burge kept his place in a side which saw Martin, Madine and Finch, all start.

The game kicked off to great noise from the City support but less than a minute in and there was a collision involving Reda Johnson. A stretcher was brought on but Johnson who had suffered a head injury was able to walk off the field, needing stitches.

With stitches not enough to patch up Johnson, Andy Webster was sent on in the eighth minute ‎as his replacement.

Gary Madine, looked a useful addition to a City team playing in their sky blue home kit, and the Geordie headed a 19th minute free kick into the Tommy Johnston Stand.

As the City support taunted a resident in the flats in one of the corners of the ground about his washing and ironing duties, the O's had a Cox shot saved by Burge.

Madine had a great chance in the 27th minute when through but fell over under pressure. The loanee striker was involved straight away in the move which led to a 29th minute corner.

The City fans fumed at the referee for not giving a penalty when Nouble went down after battling his way into the area. However, it was all forgotten when Madine got into the area on the left and cut the ball back for Jim O'Brien to slam high into the net from seven yards, eleven minutes before half-time.‎

O's had one shot and City won a corner and with three minutes to go, the resolute City defence cleared a corner.

With Ryan Haynes bombing on, Finch and Fleck playing some good balls in midfield and O'Brien, the Coventry City London Supporters Club Player Of The Month, chasing everything, City went in at the break deservedly ahead against a side which had not won at home this season.

Eight minutes after the restart and Madine had a good shot saved but Orient went up the other end and won a corner. The ball came over and Scott Cuthbert headed onto Burge's right hand post. The ball trickled along the line. The home fans appealed for a goal and the referee who was outside of the penalty area gave the goal.‎

As Pressley sent his subs to warm up. Jim O'Brien volleyed wide with a 61st minute effort.

Jack Finch had a goal ruled out for a foul committed by Madine but in the 70th minute, Orient were in front when Jay Simpson was allowed to head unchallenged past Burge from four yards.

The home fans taunted the City fans about the Sky Blues being crap as they were losing to a side which had not won at home all season. To be fair, they had a point as the decent football of the first half half had all but disappeared and City were relying on long kicks of the yellow ball forward to win corners which either resulted an easy catch for Woods in the O's goal or a free kick. ‎

With eleven minutes left, City made a change with Simeon Jackson coming on for Andy Webster and seven minutes later. James Maddison came on for Jack Finch.

Lee Burge was booked for a foul outside of his area before the game went in stoppage time.

Suddenly on the break, City went forward and there was Jim O'Brien to score and snatch City a point, which sparked wild scenes amongst the eleven hundred plus strong City support and although City should have won, a point was more that the Sky Blues earned at Brisbane Road last season and improvement if nothing else.
