Coventry City Ladies hit rock bottom with a 2-0 home defeat by Tranmere Rovers.

Needing a victory to keep their chances of avoiding the drop back into the Midland Combination, an 15th minute miss by Laura Healy was punished at the other end by Laura Carubia who found space inside the penalty area to score from close range.

Twenty minutes later, Tranmere who started the day bottom of the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division table, wrapped up a rare away victory.

Sue Kenwright forced her way into the penalty area and was taken down by Lynsey Bryenton. Kelly Jones dispatched the resulting penalty.

Despite a good turn-out of City supporters at Sphinx Drive, Mark Phillips side offered nothing during the second half and suffered the defeat that their performance deserved.

City now need to win all their remaining matches starting with Sunday's trip to Manchester City.
