Super Coventry City continued their run of away form with a hard fought 3-2 victory at MK Dons.

After the excellent victory at Stevenage and with this being our second closest away on another new ground, it was no surprise that Coventry City supporters were out in force.

Such were the numbers of City supporters who made their way by car, coach and train to Stadiummk, that it was one of the biggest league followings since City were in the Premier League and it was a pleasure to be amongst such an excellent support of 4,988 and some of the many friends I have made over the years.

The City support span round the whole of the North Stand and there was a massive cheer as Mark Robins side in yellow shirts, blue shorts and blue socks, came onto the pitch

City attacked the emptyish South Stand for the first half and were causing problems from the start.

Karl Robinson's side won a fifth minute conceded by Edjenguele but the capable City defence easily cleared.

Three minutes later, Dean Lewington went down in the area under a challenge from Christie. Referee Mr Woolmer spotted that Lewington was seeking an unfair advantage and City broke up the other end and Elliott fired wide.

Elliott's lack of height hampered the Sky Blues up front and City played it on the deck or out to Gary McSheffrey who still had his head bandaged.

On 14.51, the ball came up to Darryl Powell and with Murphy slow to come off his line. The number seventeen scored with a low from the edge of the area.

City came back with a corner against a Dons side which should have been down to ten men when Smith elbowed Jennings in the 20th minute.

Smith got away with a caution and another should have been given for a foul on Christie after play had ended with a City corner after advantage had been played.

In the 26th minute, Stephen Elliott was clearly shoved. No penalty was awarded but the scowls of the City fans turned to cheers when they got the ball in to Franck Moussa who beat two players and crashed the ball into the net off the bar.

As "Mark Robins Sky Blue Army" chants echoed round the ground. McSheffrey fired wide.

The home side were allowed too much time on the ball and in the 37th minute, Ryan Lowe ghosted in to beat Murphy and put Dons back in front.

The City fans were demanding an early goal and three minutes into the second half, they got it when McSheffrey banged over a peach of a cross for Stephen Elliott to head in at the far post.

The celebrations from the City fans were raucous and two minutes later, they got even more of a rowdy and jubilant nature when Stephen Elliott kept cool under pressure and struck the ball into the bottom of the net with a neat piece of precision finishing.

More inconsistent refereeing decisions followed including the denying of a penalty for City for handball in the 65th minute.

In the 73rd minute, Stephen Elliott left to a thunderous ovation and was replaced by Roy O'Donovan and two minutes later, McSheffrey left to the same good ovation when he was exchanged for Adam Barton.

Bowditch missed a sitter with four minutes to go. Fleck went up the other end and fired over.

The home side won a couple of corners in the four minutes of stoppage time but the Sky Blues stayed firm and were able to delight in a hard fought victory.
