Coventry City got their pre-season underway with a 4-1 victory at Nuneaton Town.

Whilst, it may have been a beautiful day, the hottest of the year, the clouds had been hanging over Coventry City all close season with scenes that not even the Coventry born writers of "Love And Marriage" could come up with.

With the club now seemingly set to start the season in Northampton and legal action being dispatched like confetti, Coventry City, still under a transfer embargo, started their pre-season campaign with their annual trip to Nuneaton Town.

Steven Pressley, who has some supporters, it is understood, vowing not to go until he is replaced as manager, named a starting team which included youth teamers in Jack Finch, Ben Maund and Eli Bako as well as Arron Phillips who was on loan at Nuneaton this season.

As the strains of the Nunfest wafted over the Liberty Way Stadium and well after the SISU Out chants had started, Nuneaton took a fifth minute lead when the ball was given away and Louis Moult fired at goal from six yards. Jordan Clarke cleared but Moult scored at the second attempt.

City levelled in the fourteenth minute when Callum Wilson took the ball off Streete, and slipped the ball past trialist keeper Laurie Walker.

Ben Maund curled over and Moult headed at Murphy as Steven Pressley in a white polo shirt and black shorts pointed furiously and bawled instructions in a dialect which was certainly not easy to understand.

Barton, Fleck and Baker all went wide from the edge of the area before the half came to a close.

Nine changes were made at the break by Pressley with Nuneaton making at least six including bringing on former Sky Blue Adam Walker and taking off former City defender David McNamee or ouchmyknee as he was nicknamed.

Cyrus Christie was one of those introduced to the crowd at the interval and the Covsupport News Service Young Player of the Year for the last two seasons, came on and caused problems straight away. He put over two crosses and in the 54th minute, he crossed for Leon Clarke to plant a header past the substitute Nuneaton keeper.

One topless fan came on to the pitch and was led away by the stewards allowing a drinks break for the players.http://www.itv.com/sport/football/update/2013-07-13/fight-the-power/

Always looking comfortable, with Christie, Moussa, Garner and Daniels playing some good stuff, City increased their tally with an 85th minute when Danny Andrew tripped Christie and Leon Clarke thumped home the resulting penalty before shaking the keepers hand as part of his celebration.

Less than a mnute later, it was four when Franck Moussa nipped in following another error by the Boro defence and slipped the ball home to give City, who travel to Holland tomorrow, a 4-1 win.
