City Remember Jimmy Hill With A Draw

Coventry City, marked the sad passing of former manager and Chairman Jimmy Hill by drawing with Oldham Athletic 1-1 at the Ricoh Arena.

The news of Jimmy Hill's death had done the rounds amongst the City support from around 1pm and there was a minute's applause before kick off.

Thanks to cheap tickets, there was a decent crowd of 15,419 to see City go straight on the attack against a side determined to get as many players behind the ball as possible.

In the 24th minute, there was the sickening sight of Ben Turner hitting the deck really hard. A stretcher was called for but Turner got to his feet but was unable to continue and Ryan Haynes came on with Chris Stokes moving into the centre of defence.

Three minutes into the second half and City after having one corner cleared off the line had another and this time Arron Martin finished to put the Sky Blues ahead.

Joe Cole went off in the 57th minute and with twenty minutes left, James Maddison came on.

Both sides had changes but in the dying seconds, Danny Philliskirk headed home to earn a draw to leave the City support who had a minutes applause for Jimmy Hill in the 87th minute without the Christmas present of three points that they wanted.
