Our second trip to East Lancs in four days and yet again, Coventry City were denied victory by a late equaliser as Burnley snatched a 1-1 draw.

The City side, which wore their black away kit and attacked the Jimmy McIlroy Stand in the first half, was the strongest side available to Chris Coleman and his assistant Steve Kean.

For the opening fifteen minutes of a match played on a dark night at Turf Moor and an evening which got a touch foggier as the game progressed, Keiren Westwood and the City defence were busy men.

Burnley showed glimpses of why their home ground had become a graveyard for four Premier League teams this season with some crisp passing. Thankfully, Ben Turner,Scott Dann and Keiren Westwood all capably dealt with any threats from the likes of Blake and Paterson.

In the 16th minute, we were appealing for a penalty when Leon Best was clearly held back by Steve Caldwell after getting to a Henderson cross. Nothing was given and Owen Coyle's side cleared and attacked with Thompson forcing Westwood into a save.

The Burnley fans in a gate that boosted by their season ticket holders being able to bring a friend for free, ended their brief spell of noise due to complaining about Gunnarsson's heavy tackle on Caldwell.

Robbie Blake missed from a 27th minute corner and this let-off sought to spur on the Sky Blues. Our passing was first class and balls from Doyle, Henderson, Bell. Fox and Gunnarsson all started to find their intended targets.

One set up Michael Doyle on half hour mark for a twenty five yarder which Jensen dived to beat away.

Then it was the Irishman who turned provider in the 43rd minute. Doyle was in the centre circle and played a ball out to his right. With the Burnley full back hesitating, Jordan Henderson was able to collect the ball and get to the byline. The Makem send over a peach of a cross and there was the masked Leon Best at the far post to nod it into the net.

Although, our celebrations were nowhere near as euphoric as at Blackburn, giving the good number of police officers in the away stand nothing to do, it was a well worked goal and a moment for Coventry City supporters to enjoy.

It was evident that Burnley were fired up for the second half as Chris McCann began to find way too much space on the right and was too often able to get past Bell and Fox.

Blake and Paterson, it has to be said wasted some great chances. The duo could have Burnley well ahead by the time Keiren Westwood made a double one handed save from a 60th minute corner.

To screams of "shoot" from the City fans, Gunnarsson broke into the area four minutes later only to screw his effort wide of Jensen's goal.

In the 71st minute, Owen Coyle made a triple change with Chris Eagles, who was probably the reason why we saw Everton boss David Moyes park his his car in front of us in the cricket ground car park, coming on.

Chris Coleman also went for a change with Leon Best, who had worked hard leaving to good applause when he was switched for Robbie Simpson.

The amount of hand ball appeals coming from the home ends to our left and right was getting a bit repetative. Only one was given and that was in the 77th minute when City Icelandic midfelder was adjudged to have committed this offence. Thankfully, Canley Kid Graham Alexander's free kick was only a bit of handling practice for Keiren Westwood.

David Bell, who showed a few nice touches but was easily dispossessed tonight was the second City player to be replaced with nine minutes left.

A chorus of the Sky Blue Song urged City on but that second goal we really needed did not materialise.

Eastwood had the best chance late on when he blasted over in the 84th minute after receiving the ball just outside the area.

It became a a case of Westwood's goal being under pressure than Jensen's and in the 89th minute, a cross from the right perfectly picked out Chris Eagles who chipped the helpless Westwood and condemned the Sky Blues to take only one point instead of three from a hard working performance in an entertaining game.
