Coventry City ended their run of defeats with a 1-0 win ay Blackpool.

After four successive defeats, the need for a win was imperative, especially as the Sky Blues were no longer in the top six.

City supporters had been arriving in the North West sea-side town since Thursday and there were over 3,000 who made it, throught inadequate exits to Bloomfield Road to see Tony Mowbray bring back James Maddison for a game where the beach was not up the road but on the pitch.

Blackpool won a corner in the opening minutes of a game where sections of the City support showed support for the Blackpool fans who want a change of owner.

Charles-Cook had to make a save from Liam Smith in the sixth minute. City broke and Murphy fired at former City Loanee Colin Doyle.

A great tackle from Arron Martin conceded a tenth minute corner but Charles-Cook was straight to It, as the City support continued to flood into the ground.

A 12th minute free kick led to a corner which was headed over by Chris Stokes.

The next corner came two minutes later and it was for the home side whose support looked smaller than the City support.

Fortune headed that danger away and in the 24th minute, Murphy created space but drove well wide.

City won a corner a minute later which when it came over Marc Antoine Fortune banged into the net from a couple of yards out.

More pressure from City followed against a team which lost 3-0 last Saturday.

Fleck and Maddison had shots blocked before David Norris fired at Charles-Cook.

A great move by Murphy saw Armstrong win a corner in the 42nd minute but that was cleared and Brad Potts fired wide at the other end.

Four minutes into the second half with the referee playing an advantage and blocking his view. Vincelot fired wide.

Fortune fired at Doyle who took a fre kick which led to City gifting the Tangerines a 51st minute corner.

Maddison lost two balls much to the annoyance of the City support who cheered Stokes winning a 52nd minute corner.

A chorus of the Sky Blue Song happened as Blackpool won a corner in the better half of the pitch.

Blackpool tried a double change and on the hour mark, James Maddison was replaced by Andy Rose, who was soon involved in a move which saw Jacob Murphy head over.

In the 66th minute, a foul on Murphy gave City a free kick. That was the last from Murphy who was replaced by Joe Cole for the last twenty four plus minutes.

The City players were making some great blocks and throwing themselves at the ball, something which had been missing in the last few games.

Rose and Vincelot had shots blocked against a Blackpool side which had a 72nd minute corner cleared.

Marcus Tudgay came on for the last sixteen minutes with the massive Ikpeazu getting a run out for the home side.

Ikpeazu's first touch saw him fire into the stand. City went up the other end and Tudgay played in Armstrong. The referee gave City a free kick but much to the annoyance of the City support, the assistant in front of the City support in the East Stand said it was a foul by the loanee from Newcastle.

Cole took a corner in the 80th minute but Doyle caught the incoming header from Rose.

With pigeons feasting on what was left of the grass in front of Charles-Cook, Chris Stokes crashed to the ground with his leg bent horribly, and a stretcher was called for.

A mask was put on the City defenders face and an inflatable cast on his leg and the emergency services carried him off to great applause from the City support and many in the home ends.

That left City with ten men for the seven minutes that were added on. In the dying seconds, Ikpeazu bundled the ball into the net with his hand. Eveeryone looked at each other but Mr Brown  indcated that there was no goal and City were back to winning ways.
