Coventry City threw away their first league victory at Ashton Gate since 1962/63 by conceding a late goal to one of the worst Bristol City sides that I have ever seen City face at Ashton Gate.

At the end of a week where City boss Chris Coleman had labelled anyone unhappy with his tactics in the last two games as a 'neanderthal', a superb turn out of City supporters from as far away as Denmark, arrived at Ashton Gate.

Chris Coleman, who has had a mild time from City supporters since his appointment two years ago, unlike supporters at other clubs who scrutinise their manager in every detail of their football and personal life, named a team which saw Freddy Eastwood up front and the return of a 4-4-2 formation.

With Michael McIndoe heavily booed by the home support and some of the Sky Blue Army having a go at Louis Carey, whose time at Highfield Road was as soon over as it started, the home side attacking the away end where the City fans were and one that offered a view of the flats used in Only Fools and Horses.

Gary Johnson's charges had most of the play in the opening thirty minutes and it took a superb tackle by James McPake in the 25th minute to keep the scores level.

The mood amongst the City support who were directing chants of "We're All Neanderthals", at the City manager, who in his blue club issue coat was taking turns with his assistant Steve Harrison to issue instructions, grew increasingly frustrated.

To be fair had Morrison and Eastwood who worked hard, had some service then City might have got something in the opening forty five minutes but the team as a whole, gave the home side too much room and space to pass the ball round.

Many of the Sky Blue Army were just getting to their backless seats after the half-time interval when they witnessed the rest of us going mental when the Sky Blues took the lead.

Just 52 seconds by my watch had gone in the second half when Morrison had a shot blocked and the ball fell to David Bell outside the area. The winger, who worked hard, hit a peach of a shot that went into the bottom corner of the net.

Gary Johnson made two changes including Sno, who for me was the Robins best player and this lifted them.

Keiren Westwood did enough to block Agyemang before he was rounded by Haynes who fired into the side netting and got howls from the Bristol fans who were unusually quiet.

City did create one good chance on the hour mark and that saw Aron Gunnarsson, who ran his socks off and batttled hard, set James McPake up for a header.

However, such luxuries of James McPake roaming up front, were not to the liking of the City management, who switched to 4-5-1 rather than going for a second goal which would have won the game.

Carl Baker had been sent on for Eastwood but with ten minutes remaining, Bristol made a terrible hash of things in front of goal.

Three minutes later, it was City who were guilty of some woeful defending when a ball in was not dealt with and David Clarkson was left alone inside the area to beat Westwood and get his side level.

Five minutes of stoppage time was added on and although a good corner from McIndoe was cleared, Coventry City only got one point when they should have been celebrating all three.
