Coventry City let a two goal lead slip and drew 2-2 with Luton Town

It had been a decent sunny day in Coventry as the City support made their way to the Ricoh Arena for a re-arranged League Two fixture against Luton Town.

The Hatters had dropped to second in the table after a home defeat to Accrington Stanley on Saturday with the Sky Blues in eighth after their 1-0 win against Barnet and was a game that City need to win if they are to join the Bedfordshire based side in possibly being promoted at the end of the season.

Mark Robins brought back Jordan Shipley and Peter Vincenti whilst Cov Kid James Collins started for the Hatters in a game which saw City attacking the end where the 2000 Luton fans were, get a corner after 41 seconds which ended up with Lee Burge.

The ball came back up front. A Haynes ball from a mazy run came across, Bayliss got in a shot which Stech got a hand to and there was Peter Vincenti at the back stick to lash it into the net at the South Stand end.

As tannoy announcements boomed out of the away end and Luton fans announced they would stand where they wanted to, Shipley ran and fired wide before Hyam took a bang to the head during a move which saw both sets of supporters appealing for penalties.

A shot from a Luton player in the 23rd minute whipped past Burge's left hand post. The Luton fans at the other end, thought it was a goal much to the amusement of the City support.

McNulty fired at Steche, Shipley won a corner and a cross deflected off Clarke-Harris.

Shipley helped to clear a 31st minute corner with a neat touch but Luton with Hylton looking a threat were soon attacking again although they could not conjure anything more than a goal kick for City who had Shipley curl wide in the 36th minute.

A 39th minute corner for City was headed away and McNulty blasted over as City continued to have the better of the play.

On the stroke of half-time, City had a free kick. The referee marked the wall out so far back that it gave Marc McNulty the room to send his kick into the net past Stech on his left hand side.

Luton took their time coming out for the second half but had the first shot with an effort going past the post.

Clarke-Harris headed wide range whilst on the touchline, Luton coach Nathan Jones was throwing his arms round in a temper tantrum.

Clarke-Harris flashed a twenty five yarder wide for a City team which had Michael Doyle with a bandage on his left knee and Hyam with one on his head.

In the 54th minute, a free kick came over and Burge failed to deal with it and Scott Cuthbert headed home to leave the game finally poised.

Kyel Reid Came on for Shipley in a game which saw Derby County's Curtis Davies in the press box.

With fifteen minutes left, Liam Kelly came on for Bayliss who had taken a number of knocks and Stech saved from McNulty to give City a corner.

Kelly in his first tackle was booked. That gave Luton a a free kick which sailed into the net. The Luton fans celebrated but the goal was ruled out and City led going into the last ten minutes.

Burge saved well with his left hand with eight minutes left! McNulty drove just wide from range.

Then, Luton got an equaliser and it was James Collins who scored with a powerful header from a Gambin cross.

Stech made two good saves in stoppage time but City had let a two goal lead slip and two more points went by the by.
