City End Pre-Season With Defeat At West Brom

City   O’Brien, Grimmer, McDonald, Hyam, Brown, Maycock, Doyle (C), Allassani, Shipley, Ponticelli, Clarke-Harris. Subs: Burge (GK), Davies, Mason, Thompson, Willis, Sterling, Ogogo, Andreu, Bayliss, Biamou. 

West Brom: Johnstone, Cranie, Hegazi, Bartley, Gibbs, Livermore, Morrison, Brunt, Barnes, Phillips, Robson-Kanu. Subs: Bond, Harper, Fitzwater, Rondon, Edwards, Leko, Rodriguez, Burke, Wilson, Barry

Coventry City were beaten 5-2 at West Bromwich Albion.

The Sky Blues who had not scored a goal in any of their public friendlies in England, had Jordan Ponticelli and Jonson Clarke-Harris up front for this Cyrille Regis Memorial Trophy game at The Hawthorns.

City were a goal down in six minutes when Harvey Barnes netted and he scored again two minutes later.

Hal Robson-Kanu made it three in the 31st minute with James Morriston providing a cross for Robson-Kanu to head home a fourth goal in the 40th minute.

Reise Allassani pulled a goal back in the 44th minute with a cracking strike.

City made six changes at the break with Burge, Mason, Davies, Andreu, Bayliss and Biamou coming on for O'Brien, Brown, Hyam, Shipley, Ponticelli and Clarke-Harris.

The Baggies got their fifth in the 51st minute through Jake Livermere 

Jordan Thompson and Dujon Sterling came on for City in the 59th minute.and six minutes later Abu Ogogo replaced Michael Doyle.

Jordan Wills made his first appearance of pre-season coming on in the 71st minute for Rod McDonald and although Jordan Thompson headed home a Bayliss cross in the 78th minute, City went down to a 5-2 defeat.
