Coventry City failed to earn their first win under Russell Slade at the ninth attempt with a 1-1 draw at AFC Wimbledon.

The Sky Blues on a not too unpleasant evening in West London, gave a start to Kwame Thomas and dropped Kyel Reid to the bench which included Yakubu Ayegbeni with Lee Burge back in goal.

With City rock bottom of the league, there was a reasonable turn out of 359 City supporters including one from Guernsey and Denmark and two from New York to see Kevin Foley go in front of the back four.

A good Dion Kelly-Evans tackle saw City concede the first corner of the game in the sixth minute.

Twelve minutes and George Thomas got through to have his shot blocked and eventually it went outside  for a throw that Shea had to claw away for the first of three corners.

They were eventually cleared before Tom Soares got in a 25th minute shot which Burge did well to push over for a corner that was headed over by Paul Robinson.

The Dons had another corner in the 28th minute and one in the 31st minute that Burge confidently caught in a game where there was periods when not a lot was happening apart from some resolute defending from the Sky Blues with Clarke, Rawson, and Kelly-Evans all doing their bit to keep the home fans quiet.

They did find their voices briefly when Robinson sent a corner over Burge's bar just before three minutes were added on.

The second half started with a corner for the home side and a throw which was fired over the terrace at the end City were defending for the second half.

Kwame Thomas got in a cross from the byline four minutes as the City support called for Yakubu to be thrown on.

Wimbledon won a corner which cleared as a roar went up from the City support on the side terrace when Yakubu was sent to warm up.

The Dons missed with a free header before there was another big cheer when Yakubu came on for the last 29 minutes replacing Marcus Tudgay.

Jones' impact was immediate as he got the ball on the right and smashed it low into the net to give City a 71st minute lead and delight the City support.

Neil Ardley made a double change but it was City who were looking the better side with ten minutes left.

Jones won City an 83rd minute corner and it looked like City were holding on to win but the Sky Blues have a habit under Slade of conceding late goals and in the fourth minute of stoppage time, Paul Robinson who was excellent for the Dons bundled home to deny City the win.
