Coventry City and Morecambe bored the pants off the crowd but took a point each which suited both sides in a game which clearly looked agreed beforehand.

So this was it down to a one game shoot-out to see if Coventry City could book a place in the play-offs.

A lovely sunny day for once, saw City needing at least a win or draw on Coventry City Former Players Association Legends Day against a Morecambe side also needing a result to remain in the Football League.

Mark Robins made two changes with Dominic Hyam in for Jordan Willis and Jonson Clarke-Harris coming in for Max Biamou for the Sky Blues who attacked the South Stand for the first half, where there was a bigger than expected turn out of away fans.

City's first chance came in the sixth minute and it was a stinging twenty five yarder from Michael Doyle which Roche had to push over for a corner that Morecambe were able to clear.

Another corner followed in the 13th corner as did a cracking run by Bayliss which should have resulted in a free kick but didn't.

Stokes fired over in the 21st minute and Clarke-Harris headed over a minute later.

Ton Bayliss was involved in a collision but thankfully got up and was able to continue ands help City win a corner.

Davies made an excellent clearance for City who had another corner in the 35th minute.

There's minutes later and Roche made a tremendous save from Clarke-who was played in from a Shipley ball.

Morecambe had a corner in the third minute of stoppage time and it was level at the break which saw the Legends given a good reception on the pitch.

The results were going right for City but not Morecambe who were under pressure to keep it at 0-0.

Six minutes in and Kevin Ellison fired into the wide netting and roared on by their noisy support, they had the momentum, especially when City lost Shipley to an injury and replaced him with Kyel Reid.

Choruses of "Twist N Shout" rang out as City wasted a 66th minute corner in a game which looking more and more fixed to suit both sides.

Bayliss did have a shot in the 74th minute saved and
Clarke-Harris tamely headed over.

Max Biamou was sent on for Clarke-Harris as the City supporters booed at the City players passing the ball around the back to waste as much time as possible.

The final whistle went as a blessed relief and leaves City with a lot to do in the play-offs if they are to win them and get out of this division.
