Coventry City U18's are likely to be crowned FA Premier Academy League Group B Champions with a 6-0 victory over Southampton at the Alan Higgs Centre.

With the Saints forced to field a young side due to their involvement in the FA Youth Cup Final on Monday,Steve Ogrizovic's team were two goals up in only seven minutes.

The first came in the fourth minute with a well worked move which saw Andy Gooding get to the by-line and deliver a cross that Liam Davis powerfully swept into the net from ten yards.

The promising left winger turned provider three minutes later when his pull back was smashed high into the net from twelve yards by Azariah Ogarro.

The very young Saints side which included an U14 player on the bench, briefly rallied but could not find a way past Jonny Tuffey who dealt with a Jamie White effort before throwing himself to his left to push a close range header from Carvalho from a free kick onto his left hand post and away.

In the 27th minute,Coventry nearly went further in front when Ben Turner rose to meet a corner only for Joseph Mills to head the ball off the line.

A third goal did come in the 41st minute as Davis found Gooding who chipped the ball over for Turner to knock down. Waiting was Rikki Bains and his powerfully hit drive from sixteen yards flew into the net.

The Sky Blues came straight at the Saints in the second half with Gooding and Ogarro both having efforts cleared off the line just after the restart.

In the 49th minute, City increased their tally thanks to Kevin Thornton nipping in to steer the ball past visiting keeper Ashley Jones from a Vijay Sidhu pass.

Jonny Tuffey then saved with his feet but it was a mere respite for the visitors as Liam Davis scored in the 54th minute after Jones had partially parried an Andy Gooding shot.

Davis limped off in the 61st minute after being involved in a crunching tackle from both Jones and a covering defender.
The Man Of the Match was replaced by Ryan Lynch who set up City's sixth and final goal in the 76th minute when Jones got a hand to his cross but could not stop Vijay Sidhu slotting home from close range to wrap up a fine performance from the Sky Blues and a place in the Semi-Final.
