It was a game of two halves as Coventry City drew 1-1 at Shrewsbury.

After a high scoring draw, City have a good record of winning their next game, so a  City support which had bought every ticket for the away end set off for the Greenhous Stadium in good heart, giving Shrewsbury the payday they wanted.

The City support, which packed into the end behind the goal and other parts of the ground saw a City team, playing in sky blue, with two changes.  These were Ryan Haynes in for Blair Adams and Captain Carl Baker back after his suspension for Billy Daniels.

The City fans were in fine voice as Cyrus Christie made a good opening header away and then Wilson surged up the other end after getting a ball from Baker. Callum Wilson rounded former Leicester keeper Chris Weale and stroked into the empty net after three minutes and thirty seconds and was a goal which Wilson become City's joint highest scorer after five games with Ally Brown and the legendary Clarrie Bourton.

Leon Clarke had a good shot saved and City won a corner as did the home side in the 10th minute, which Wilson headed away.

As the City fans dished out some banter to one of the locals or yokel by the state of him, Christie got up the right in the 20th minute and sent over a cross which Weale had to push away for a throw.

Baker was involved in the 23rd minute when he picked out Leon Clarke with a peach of a pass for Clarke who had over come a calf injury to get in a right footed curler which Weale dived to his left to push away.

A great header from Ryan Haynes, playing with plenty of confidence, conceded a corner. That was cleared by some nifty footwork by Haynes and the ball went up to Wilson who drew another save out of Weale for a corner.

Summerfield had a rare shot for the home side in the 34th minute but before the half ended, back came City with two corners.

Shrewsbury made a change at the break bringing on their loanee Main but it was Callum Wilson who was first to show, picking out Clarke who had a shot blocked seconds after the restart.

The home side countered and Main crossed for the unmarked Tom Bradshaw to score past Murphy.

Moussa dragged a 51st minute shot wide but Shrewsbury went down the other end and won two corners.

The impetus was very much with the home side, who took six points off City last season and the City defence started to panic. Mistakes, which Cyrus Christie had highlighted in one interview this week, were made including the one which allowed Arron Wildig, to fire over and when City did go forward too often, Carl Baker's balls were over hit.

Weale was down to his left again to push away a 64th minute Leon Clarke free kick and five minutes later, a cracking Christie cross just missed the incoming Wilson.

Two more chances at the far end were fashioned by the home side before Steve Pressley made a switch with Billy Daniels coming on for Carl Baker.

Wilson, thanks to her persistence, won a 81st minute throw but the Shrews had a free header at the other end.

Three minutes and City, who hope to be bringing in a player on Monday, only had the first of two corners instead of a penalty when Mkandawire clearly handled in front of the City support.

The ball was back up the other end with two more corners for Shrewsbury, a booking for Conor Thomas and more work for Joe Murphy. But the Sky Blues kept going through Christie, a good worker for the Sky Blues, who fired over and Daniels had a shot saved by Weale before a minimum of three goals were announced.

However, the deadlock was not to be broken again and City recorded a point on a ground they are still to win a first team game at.
