Coventry City starterd their pre-season campaign with a defeat at Sutton United.

Life without Marc McNulty saw the Sky Blues start on a sunny lunch time in Surrey with three of the new signings.

On a 3G pitch, Sutton were the far better in the opening half which saw a great save by Lee Burge in the 17th minute.

Max Biamou against his former club headed wide for a City side that had Brendan Mason looking solid at left back and Allassani and Bayliss showing a few nice touches.

In the 32nd minute, A City defender tried to give the ball back to Lee Burge but the ball went past him and into the net.

Burge in an all yellow kit, no too dissimilar to the Sutton kit, did save to concede a 36th minute corner and then saved the incoming header.

Allassani got through but could only blast over in the 38th minute as City's second half team warmed up.

City with a trialist on, did have Tom Davies get in a 48th minute header from a free kick but in the 58th minute, Sutton increased their lead when a static defence allowed Craig Dundas to get in a shot on the turn and beat Liam O'Brien on his left hand side.

The Trialist later named as Daniel Armstrong, did try as did Jordan Ponticelli who had a couple of chances along with Chris Camwell, who looked a useful outlet, getting in a shot just before the end of a game which finished early so everyone could get into the bar to watch the England game.
