FA Cup 1987 heroes George Curtis and John Sillett were at the Ricoh Arena this afternoon to lend their support to the Jimmy Hill Tribute Appeal which was launched today.

The appeal seeks to raise £150k for a more than life size statue of the former manager and Chairman of the Sky Blues which will be situated outside the Ricoh Arena.

Speaking on behalf of the Committee set up to establish the Appeal which includes Vice President Kevin Heffernan, Kev Monks and CV One's Dave Long, Joe Elliott told the assembled media that it was 49 years since Jimmy Hill took over as manager of Coventry City and it was only fitting that there was a world class statue to grace the Arena with the same quality.

He spoke about the memories that many supporters who will there will share of matches against Sunderland, Manchester United and Wolves and said that this was the opportunity for supporters to have a lasting memory of Jimmy in his life-time.

The appeal is a six week project which ends with the friendly against West Bromwich Albion at the Ricoh Arena on July 31st and Mr Elliott, who urged the people of Coventry to contribute to this appeal, said that he hoped we can get to the £150k very quickly.
