Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that the young players in the City squad need to be an example to the other young players in the club.

Pressley told Alan Poole at the club's press conference: “The players have to know that the manager believes in them and trusts them and I certainly do that.

“What gives me great satisfaction is that we had George Thomas with us throughout pre-season and then the first three games. We’ve brought in new strikers so he went back to the under-18s on Saturday but he scored for them and his commitment was exceptional.

“I spoke to James Maddison on that as well, told him that they have to be an example to the other young players as to how they can get into the first team.

“When young players can see a pathway to the first team that creates energy in a football club.”
