Coventry City's James Maddison has said that you have to hit the target after his goal ensured that the Sky Blues stayed in League One with a 2-1 win at Crawley Town.
Maddison told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner abut his 90th minute goal:“It wasn’t the greatest when we went a goal down, to be honest, but the manager put me on and I managed to play a part in us winning the game.
“He told me to go and be creative and play my game by hurting them because we needed a goal and didn’t want to be relying on anyone else to secure our safety. And it was a great feeling to put one in the back of the net.”
“Frank Nouble did really well and got to the by-line and he was shaping up to shoot and I was screaming at him because I’d run about 40 yards to get to him.
“He was looking at the goalie and I didn’t think he’d seen me. But he was just conning the keeper and he reversed it back to me, showing great vision.
“I was confident. I knew I just needed to get a good contact on it and with just a defender in the way I knew if I put it mid height just to his side that he couldn’t use his hands.
“I would probably have put it low if there was a keeper in the goal because he’d have to get down.
“You have to hit the target and that’s when you have to have a cool head and be calm, which is what I did.”
