Coventry City manager Chris Coleman has revealed that Stephen Wright will join City on their two match tour in Switzerland next week.

Wright who is a free agent, was released by Sunderland and played for City in the win against REF Vocklabruck on Friday evening.

Chris Coleman, who also has David McNamee training with the club told the CT: "I would imagine Wrighty will be coming to Switzerland with us next week.

"He did well in Austria last week and we are looking at him again this week although we have not talked to his agent about a contract or anything, although we will be doing so to find out the situation.

"Signing takes longer than a week because there is always to-ing and fro-ing - if we are going to offer him a contract and if he wants to stay with us - so I imagine it won't be until after Switzerland.

"But we are impressed with him because he has a good knowledge of the division, he got promotion with Sunderland and did well with Stoke last season and he's a proper defender. He has got good aggression and he's done well."

He added: "It you are trying to improve your squad and attract good players, coming in in Wrighty's situation, both parties are on trial.

"He is looking at us and we are looking at him. We have to impress him like all new players but I can't say to him this club won the FA Cup in 1987. The history is there but it's not going to help us now.

"We have got a new training ground and it is going to be fantastic. We will have an improved squad and get higher in the league.

"We have got a great stadium and fans and that's when you start signing good players. "So it's all about the club in its current state and we have got to get a good team in place."
