Wood on penalty shoot out miss

Coventry City's central defender Richard Wood has spoken about his penalty miss in the JPT game against Burton Albion last Tuesday.

With the game ending in a dour 0-0 draw after 90 minutes the teams went straight into a penalty shoot out and after the first five penalties each all successful, it went into sudden death.

When Burton, who went first with the spot kicks, missed their tenth penalty Wood found he was the the man who could win it for City.

Wood claimed he didn't feel any pressure and was relatively pleased with his kick, but it was saved by the 'keeper and so the shoot out continued.

Wood said of his penalty to the CT's Andy Turner: “I was stepping up for the winner but I wasn’t nervous, I just went up and took it. I hit the target and he saved so there wasn’t much more that I could do. When he saved it that summed up the night for me because I don’t think I played that well.

“I’ve had a bit of stick from the lads, especially because everyone else scored their pens.”
