Richard Wood has admitted that he was not shocked when he was told on Sunday by Pressley that his Coventry City days were over.

Speaking about his contract not being renewed to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, the popular centre half who made 134 appearances, scoring nine goals, said: “I wasn’t shocked.

“I was kind of expecting it because I’d not had any feedback from anyone at the club over the last few months with my contract running down.

"No-one said anything to me so it came as no surprise really.

On whether, the decision was one of finance or for footballing reasons, Wood said: “I don’t know to be honest, nothing was mentioned about that.

“It was just a case of being told they were not renewing my contract and that was fine. It’s just one of those things, it happens all the time in football. People leave and move on.

“I am a bit disappointed that I’ve had to leave but I was sort of expecting it.

“I didn’t say I wanted to move on. I have bought a house down here and moved my family here so I don’t want to be moving them about because I am settled and enjoying it.”
