Coventry City defender Richard Wood is hoping to face Portsmouth in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Speaking to the CT, the central defender whose permanent move from Sheffield Wednesday is still to be sorted, said: “There is good competition among the centre-backs now. “James has done really well since he has come in.

He went off on Saturday with cramp and I played on Monday when I was tired myself because I haven’t played for a few weeks now.

“But I am just pleased to be back in and playing and hopefully I can keep my place now. My injury is fine. I had a bruised heel and the pressure was all going on the heel and I couldn’t run or walk on it, but it’s OK now.

“I hope to play in the FA Cup against Portsmouth. It is always good to test yourself against Premier League players and this will be a good test for us all.”

Tickets are still available for the game although City's ticket office is shut on New Years Day. Portsmouth have said that they have 10,000 tickets remaining.
