Coventry city defender and part time team captain Richard Wood has backed fellow defender Stephen O'Halloran to return to the side better and stronger when he is given the chance again.

O'Halloran joined the Sky Blues in the summer from Aston Villa, but then had a torrid time with injury which kept him out of the side, but when he had recovered and restored to the problematic left back position, he initially did very well, but the his form dropped and he was blamed for mistakes that led to City conceding goals.

Coventry City's central defender Richard Wood has come to the defence of O'Halloran, insisting that his team mate will return to the side stronger and better.

Wood was asked if it is a question of confidence with O’Halloran after having a run of three poor games, but Wood was unsure,

He said, “I don’t know. He has been out that long but done great since he has been in the side, but I think he knows himself that in the last couple of games he hasn’t performed as well as he can do, and I am sure he would say that to you himself."

“The gaffer has decided to take him out but he will be wanting his spot back. He’s a good player and he’ll be back. He’s good in training and has been great up until the last couple of games and I’ve got no doubt he’ll be knocking on the manager’s door wanting his place back soon.”
