Nuneaton Town manager Kevin Wilson has said that playing the likes of Coventry City will allow his sdie to work on their defensive duties.

City travel to Liberty Way to face the Conference North side on Saturday July 11th and speaking to his club's website, Wilson said about Nuneaton's pre-season which also see them play Birmingham City and Crawley Town: Wilson said: "The friendlies play a number of different roles.

"There is a fitness element, where it is great for players to get match fitness built up before the season kicks off for real.

"The diversity of opposition we have lined up also gives us a chance to look at different things and work on different aspects of our game.

"Against smaller sides such as Banbury we would be looking at having a lot of the ball and creating lots of chances.

"Against the likes of Birmingham City and Coventry City, we will not be expecting to have as much of the ball, and that will give us a great chance to work on our defensive duties, as our players will have to dig in and really work and concentrate hard when we do not have the ball.

"The friendlies give the fans the chance to get a first look at what will be almost a completely new squad, and it also gives the club a chance to generate some revenue when Football League sides come to visit.

"It is great for the players to be able to pit themselves against players from the Championship and League One, and it is also good for our fans to be able to see such players at Liberty Way."

Ticket prices for City's game are still to be announced and will appear on this site when they are available.
