The currently appointed referee for Coventry City’s League One game at Chesterfield is Dean Whitestone.

Dean started refereeing in Northampton in 1992 and it was his father who was a class one referee, who got him interested. He progressed through the United Counties League, The Southern League, The Conference and onto the Football League as a referee in 2005/2006.

He was in charge of City’s 2-1 win over Yeovil Town on September 13 2014 and the pre-season defeat at Stevenage which left City manager Steven Pressley slightly critical of his performance as he was when Mr Whitestone was in charge of the 1-1 draw against Oldham Athletic on December 29th 2013.

Mr Whitestone was also in charge of City's Capital One Cup defeat at Leyton Orient back in August 2013 when he sent off Carl Baker and in the charge of the Boxing Day win at Stevenage in December 2012 and the League Cup win over Birmingham City in August 2012.

Before that, he has been in charge of the 3-0 win at Portsmouth in April 2011, the 1-1 draw against Blackpool on January 30th 2010, the 2-1 win at Northampton Town in a Jackson Grundy Cup game in July 2009, the 2-1 win at Charlton on December 9th 2008, the 1-0 home win over QPR on September 20th 2008 and a  1-1 home draw with Southend on December 30th 2006..

This season, he has had 23 games, shown 51 yellows and 3 reds.

His assistants are Steven Copeland and Matt McGrath. The Fourth Official is Danny Gratton.
