Whingy On Burnley Visit

Speaking about the visit of Burnley to the Arena on Saturday, Andy Whing told the press conference yesterday: "Burnley battered us up there so we owe them one," he said. "But they are a tough team and we have got to make sure we don't let that happen again.

"They beat us at Highfield Road last season so I can't remember the last time we beat them.

"They are round about where we are in the league and a really good team, but if we want to keep pushing up the table we have got to beat the teams around us."

Meanwhile,Micky Adams will have to make changes with Gary McSheffrey suspended for two games after picking up his tenth booking last weekend at Plymouth.

The City boss told the CET: "Only the next two games will tell us just how much we will miss him, but we will miss his goal scoring threat from the wide areas.

"We have got options. We can play James Scowcroft there, give young Kevin Thornton a run - although he is more a central player and would be likely to drift inside to be involved in the hub of the game - or we could continue with Whingy at left-back and push Marcus Hall up. "The door might open for Andy Morrell or Claus Jorgensen on the right, but we will miss Gary's pace and trickery - although not so much his diving!"

Adams continued: "Dennis has had a full week off so it will be nice to see him again. That's the way it has got to be unfortunately for a 39-year-old. When I took him I said I wouldn't have him up and down the motorway every day of the week so he comes in and trains with us on a Friday.

"But with the influence he is having in games and in and around the place, he is a valuable asset to us at the moment and I am just disappointed that Isaac Osbourne is not fit because he would learn an awful lot."
