Where Were You When City Won The Cup?

Last updated : 14 February 2010 By Talking Birds

Coventry Theatre Company - Talking Birds is to celebrate Coventry City's 1987 FA Cup Final victory in a play entitled " Love You City".

The play will be performed at the Belgrade Theatre in September and will feature match footage and stories from Coventry folk.

Nick Walker told the CT: "We will have an 11-strong cast - a full football team - and will be replaying the match on stage along with stories of what people were doing on May 16, 1987.

"We now want to hear from people about what they remember of the day, what they were doing and their outstanding memories of the experience.

"If you talk to anyone in Coventry who was around then they have a story and we want to hear them.

"Maybe you were stuck on a train or watching the match in a pub or doing something else completely or maybe celebrating afterwards.

"It was an important time for the city and it was an important time for Talking Birds as well.

"We were just rolling out back then and it was a very different city to what it is now.

"And, of course, we are calling the play We Love You Coventry because it was one of the chants the fans shouted at Wembley during the finall."
