Today, witnessed an unusual sight of a half empty stadium and supporters locked outside.

No, we are not talking about the bans which Italian club supporters faced last season, this happened at Wembley Stadium for The Football Conference Final between Cambridge United and Exeter City.

There had been no major notification from Wembley Ltd that there would be no ticket sales on the day and left hundred of supporters plus neutrals, many of whom has travelled hundreds of miles, some even from abroad, with a wasted journey.

What touts there were, were quickly dealt with by police.

All Wembley staff could offer was that Cambridge fans ,unable to get a ticket in their 20,000 allocation, would attempt to get into the Exeter end which had not sold out

Said one of those locked out:"It's no wonder that Wembley has to be given tax breaks when it cannot admit a good few hundred supporters wanting to watch the game. in a stadium which is nowhere near it's capacity.

"How difficult would it have been to open one section for neutrals and those paying on the day?. "Last season, there was pay on the gate with no problems and this should have been the case today."
