What Wlll You Do Next Season - KCIC Poll

Last updated : 29 March 2014 By KCIC
Just five weeks today and the season will be over

People are starting to talk about next season
It would be good to get an idea of what everyone’s thinking
So it's time for an end of season poll!
Setting up a survey page is very time consuming so this one will work the same as the first kcic fan poll...

There are six questions.
Choose your answers to the six questions e.g. 1B 2D 3B 4C 5B 6A
Then email your answers to
keepcovincov@gmail.com
Answers must be received by no later than 5pm Sunday 6 April 2014.
(If your email address is not already on the kcic mailing list it will be added so you can receive the results but you can then unsubscribe from the list as soon as you want to)

Question 1 - If we are still at NTFC next season (2014/15), what will you do?

A         Go to games at Northampton
B         Boycott Northampton but go to away games
C         Boycott all Coventry City FC games
D         Give up supporting Coventry City FC
E         Don’t know/other

Question 2 - Which of these statements do you agree with most?

A         As long as CCFC exists it will always be my club
B         I no longer consider CCFC to be my club
C         There might be a time when I think CCFC is no longer my club but I don’t think that yet
D         Don't know/other

Question 3 - Which of these statements best reflects how you feel?

A         What matters most is supporting the lads and I will continue doing that
B         CCFC is in a mess but I still support the team
C         I feel like giving up supporting CCFC
D         I have stopped supporting CCFC
E         Don’t know/other

Question 4 - If an AFC/Phoenix club was set up would you

A         Support it immediately
B         Never support it
C         Might support it at some point but not yet
D         Don’t know/other

Question 5 - kcic has made a concrete contribution to football in Coventry by sponsoring Coventry Sphinx.* For 2014/15 would you be willing to:

A         Make a donation of £25 (roughly the price of one ticket at the Ricoh) to a Coventry Sphinx fund for new facilities
B         Make a donation of £50 (roughly the price of two tickets at the Ricoh) to a Coventry Sphinx fund for new facilities
C         Make a donation of £100 to a Coventry Sphinx fund for new facilities (this would entitle you to a Coventry Sphinx season ticket if you wanted one)
D         No
(The reason for kcic asking this question is explained at the bottom of this message)

Question 6 - Do you agree or disagree with the kcic approach?

kcic's view is that playing at NTFC is a disaster œ kcic's priority is not debating the rights and wrongs of the situation but how we get back to the Ricoh œ because of the damage being done by playing at CCFC an immediate return to the Ricoh overrides all other considerations œ an offer for CCFC to play at the Ricoh has been made, which CWR have said is financially better than being at NTFC œ an immediate return to the Ricoh would be followed by taking as much time as is needed to agree a long-term solution, but without causing the damage incurred by being at NTFC œ to achieve this we need to: 1. Put pressure on sisu to make an immediate return to the Ricoh - we know they don't want to, so that's why pressure needs to be put on them; 2. If sisu say they want an immediate return to the Ricoh and acl/ccc are then obstructive, pressure will turn on them (full details of the kcic approach are at the bottom of this message). So is your view:

A         I agree with the kcic approach.
B         I disagree with the kcic approach
C         Don't know/other

---------------------
kcic and Coventry Sphinx

kcic sponsoring Sphinx is about what it says on the label ie a concrete way of doing something to help football in Coventry. Sphinx are absolutely clear they do not want to be seen as a CCFC alternative - they have their own history, ground etc etc. Sphinx could have been promoted a couple of years back but didn't have the required facilities eg pitchside changing rooms, to go up a level. Sphinx are very aware that when CCFC return to Coventry they (Sphinx) will be forgotten about and they don't want to end up as a white elephant. But if they again earn promotion they would very much like to go up a league if they can fund the required ground improvements. If roughly 6k people each paid £300 for a ST the last season at the Ricoh that is £1.8million which is a lot of money taken out of football in Coventry. Only a small fraction of that would be required to help Sphinx get their improved facilities. It would at least be one positive to come out of the CCFC mess.

The kcic approach

  • kcic is 100% peaceful
  • kcic is pro team and pro fans and has never bought into the pro/anti acl/sisu argument, as evidenced by the ePetition seeking to call to account all those responsible for the CCFC mess.
  • kcic's view is that playing at NTFC is a disaster - record low attendances, people turning their back on CCFC, fears of a lost generation of City fans etc. See Callum Wilson's recent comments for a player's perspective. The situation is bad enough now but what will be left of CCFC if this continues to drag on well into the future as appears likely? (the JR is unlikely to see a resolution, simply further legal action. No land has been purchased for the promised new stadium, never mind a planning application submitted, etc)

As kcic's starting point is the interests of the team and fans, as opposed to those whose starting point is being pro/anti acl/sisu, kcic's priority is not debating the rights and wrongs of the situation but how to get us back to the Ricoh

Given the damage being done by playing at NTFC, kcic's view is that an immediate return to the Ricoh overrides all other considerations

How to get us back to the Ricoh

  • An offer for CCFC to play at the Ricoh has been made, which CWR found financially advantageous compared with being at NTFC
  • An immediate return to the Ricoh would be followed by taking as much time as is needed to agree a long-term solution, but without causing the damage incurred by being at NTFC

To achieve this we need to

1. Put pressure on sisu to make an immediate return to the Ricoh - we know they don't want to, which is why pressure is needed

2. If sisu say they want an immediate return to the Ricoh and acl/ccc are then obstructive, pressure will turn on them (acl/ccc). As a pragmatic campaign, any action required against acl/ccc really is the easy bit - the council is a democratic body, councillors live locally and are widely known, mobilising people in Coventry is a lot easier than getting them to down to London, etc

Note: kcic does not propose any further campaigning against the Football League because the FL's position is now an issue of broader concern than its (in)action in relation to CCFC and is now very much one for government. kcic has a good relationship with sympathetic MPs
