Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he was disappointed that his side were beaten 1-0 at Sheffield United.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Mowbray said: “We could stand here discussing all the little things that went against us,” said Mowbray. “I think the referee had a difficult match – he got some things right, some things wrong, but you have to accept that.
“We’re disappointed because we controlled the game but couldn’t take our opportunities. I genuinely never felt threatened apart from the odd corner and free-kick and that’s ultimately what cost us.
“I didn’t sit there thinking ‘we could have won that four or five nil’ – I thought it was going to e 1-0 and on the balance of play it would have been nice if it had been 1-0 to us and we were standing here talking about moving forward.
“We got done by an uncharacteristic goal,” said Mowbray. “Reice has been brilliant at taking crosses – he decided to come for one and missed it but that happens.
“It’s frustrating because I’m not sure they had a real shot at our goal and I don’t think the lad knew too much about it – it hit him on the head and went in.
“Credit to them; they were set up to stop us breaking on them and they defended very well; they probably played like the away side but they got their reward.
“We’ve developed a style and we just have to keep doing what we do every week, Some teams won’t be as defensively well organised as Sheffield United; they’ll fancy their chances on their own ground, come and have a go, and we’ll be able to pick them off and play through them.”
