We're Desperate To Get Those Points Back - Waggott

Coventry City Development Officer Steve Waggott has said that City are desperate to get back the ten points deducted by the Football League last Thursday.

"Today is the deadline for an appeal and we’re in the process of taking legal advice about the next steps, " said Mr Waggott to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole..

“We are desperate to get those points back, but we have got to manage expectations.

"We would only go ahead if we thought we had a realistic chance of winning the case and I think it’s fair to say that the chances of overturning the decision are thin because it’s never been done before.

“We would be looking to make history, but this is not your normal sort of administration and there are several aspects to our case which we feel could be worth pursuing.

“The timing isn’t great because you get seven days to appeal and we’ve had Easter in between – and if we did go through with an appeal we would have to cover all costs, win lose or draw.

“That being the case, I’m working on the assumption that we will be in League One next season and I can project a budget for that because we’ll know roughly what the turnover will be and roughly what the expenditure will be so we can come up with a projection of what our Fair Play salary cap will be and work towards that.”
