Coventry City forward Cody McDonald has said that City will take a 1-0 win anyday, after the Sky Blues scraped a 1-0 win at Oldham Athletic.

Speaking to the CT's Andy Turner, McDonald, a second half substitute, said: We’ll take a scrappy 1-0 any day. The manager said that it’s not going to be easy to come to places like this and play them off the park – we have had to grind out a win and we did that.

“They are big and bullish lads who like to get behind you and push you about off the ball; maybe in the past we haven’t stuck to our guns but we stood up to it and were a but more physical ourselves. We really came in to our own in the last ten minutes; we started to see a lot of the ball in the middle of the park and Flecky put some great balls in.

“We have been waiting for a result like this and now we have got it we have to make a statement and go out on Tuesday and win again.

“We have got the players to play pretty football which we showed for an hour against Arsenal and we need to take that into our home games because we should be beating teams in this league at the Ricoh.

“Teams have made it difficult by coming to park the bus and hit us on the counter and we have lost a couple of games on the spin at home.

“The longer you go without a win the more pressure it puts on you; now we have got that win we have to push on and work on the things the manager is telling us to do. There are great players in there and we are all confident we can go on and achieve something big this season.”
