Coventry City Chairman Ray Ranson has thanked the City support for their support and has promised that there will no repeat of the miserable form showed during the season which finished on Sunday with a 4-1 defeat at Charlton.

"The fans deserve better than that, because they have been terrific throughout and gave the team fantastic support. Against Wolves we had a crowd of almost 28,000 at the Ricoh and we took more than 3,000 down to Charlton," said Ranson to the CT.

"I hope that we can give them a team to shout about next season. And, while I am at this club, what happened over the last few months will never happen again. I fully expect to be competing at the other end of the table with the type of players we are looking to bring in this summer.

"This season was all about consolidation. Taking over the club in December just before the transfer window was not ideal because there is so much that needs to be done. But I never thought it would go to the wire and the white knuckle ride that we have just been through.

"Having spoken to the manager, there will be major surgery with lots of comings and goings this summer. The work has already started and we want to revamp the whole squad from top to bottom."
