Coventry City Chairman Ray Ranson has said that the Sky Blues are looking to return to the Premier League.

City were relegated in 2001 and since then have not made the play-offs. The highest was an eighth place finish under Micky Adams and last season, the Sky Blues slumped to 19th.

However, the City Chairman thinks that the club can return to the top flight football that they enjoyed for 34 years and told Sky Sports News at the Press Conference: "We want to make a return to the Premiership and in Aidy Boothroyd, we feel we have the man to take us to the next step and Aidy will get plenty of time to take us to the next level."

Boothroyd said: "Clubs work in cycles and sometimes it is time for a club to come again. This club has been in the doldrums and needs to come again and part of the many reasons why I want to come here is I think it has the potential to go one and do really good things and I want to be part of a team that goes on and becomes successful."
