We Need To Be Miles Better Than That - Murphy

Coventry City goalkeeper Joe Murphy has said that City must grind out results and performances must be better if they are to get out of League One.

Speaking to the CT's Alan Poole after the 1-0 defeat at Crewe on Saturday, Murphy said: “Birmingham was a great game, a great result, a good scalp for us. “but the league is our bread and butter. This is where we need to perform and we just didn’t do it today.

“I’m sure the fans are disappointed and they have every right to be so, but so is everybody in the dressing room. We want to get out of this division so we’ve got to turn things round pretty quick.

“We have to realise that we’re not in the Championship any more, we’re in League One, and if you want to get promoted you have to come to places like this and, if not necessarily win, put in a performance, grind out a result.

“We’ve got a lot of new players and it takes time to settle but when you’re playing for a club like Coventry in this division there are big expectations. At home it’s great – big stadium, good crowd – but it’s always going to be tough away and we need to be miles better than that.”
