Coventry City manager Steven Pressley feels that a strong referee is required for the Sky Blues game at Brentford on Saturday.

Gavin Ward, who once missed an injury to John Fleck which saw him taken to hospital and a broken nose for Richard Wood in a draw at Swindon Town last season, is the referee and speaking about referee's, the City boss told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: "I am not one to moan about referees but the officiating has been reallt poor for us lately.

"There is no consistency and I've been really disappointed with the handling of some of our games. I think we are being harshly done by in many cases and I think this weekend we need a really strong referee.

"I have watched a number of Brentford's games and in the games I have watched so far, subconsciously, there is no doubt that referee's been influenced.

"They have had one defeat in twenty four games and they have got momentum with their supporters who are really behind them and I think in the games I've seen, subconsciously, that is affecting referees."
