We Just Need To Build Our Confidence - Wood

Coventry City defender Richard Wood has said that the City players need to build their confidence and be able to play for ninety minutes.

Speaking to the CT's Andy Turner, Wood said: “It was a great start from us and things were looking good but they are a good side who pass the ball really well, and they grew into it as the game went on and we sort of lost our momentum and shape at bit. And in the second half they controlled it and showed that they are one of the best in the division.

“I think the manager was reasonably pleased with the first half but in the second half we didn’t look like we did at the start.

“He says we need a lot of work on the training ground. It’s been difficult to do that with so many games and it’s a bad time to implement what he’s telling us.

“He’s obviously saying things but we need a lot of work on the training field to press as a team and really keep our shape and start to win the ball back and pounce on teams.

“The gaffer is saying to us all the time to believe in ourselves and our ability to pass the ball because we look a very good team when we do it. We just need to build our confidence now because hopefully people can see by the way we started the game that we can play good football, but just need to do that for 90 minutes and if we do we will definitely pick up a lot of points.

“As long as we’re picking up points as we’re learning and getting better then we should be all right.”
