We have Got To Expect That - Pressley

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley feels that City are going to have to get use to sides playing ten men behind the ball against them.

Gillingham got men behind the ball in an attempt to try and limit the amount of attacks the Sky Blues had and it did have some effect as with the Sky Blues missing a host of chances, the Kent side were in with a chance of a point until Franck Moussa pounced in the 81st minute to give City a 2-1 victory.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole, the City boss said: We’ve got to expect that because in a way we’ve become the victims of our own performances.

“Gillingham showed us a lot of respect and they’d clearly done their homework – they had two banks of four and at times they spread five across midfield and had 11 men behind the ball.

“That made life very difficult for us but games like this are often won in the last five or ten minutes and at half-time I stressed that we had to keep patient, not get excited and lose our shape.

“That’s exactly what we did – we were solid in the middle of the park and the centre-backs kept good positions, covering each other well to make sure we weren’t caught on the counter attack.

"We kept up a relentless pressure and in the end Franck Moussa got the winning goal his performance deserved.”
