We Gifted Southampton Their Goals - Thorn

Coventry City manager Andy Thorn felt lke the City support that the Sky Blues gifted Southampton their goals in the 4-2 loss on Saturday.

Speaking to the CT, Thorn said: "That was very disappointing, “you wouldn’t believe we worked on that all day Thursday!

“Really we gifted them all four goals and we certainly shot ourselves in the foot with the two in the second half.

“But young boys get tired minds and when that happens you’re going to make mistakes.

“It’s a big ask for them to compete at this level but we haven’t got too many options. Jordan Clarke, Chris Hussey, Richard Wood, Martin Cranie – that’s an entire back four sat in the treatment room and then James McPake has to come off.

“At the start of the season we were wondering if we had too many centre-halves; there’s your answer.

“We lost Woody in the morning which is why young Jordan was on to the bench and I thought he did very well when he went on.

”That’s where we are as a football club at the moment.

"If we make mistakes we make mistakes, but as long as they give me everything they’ve got, which they did today, I can’t fault that.

“We keep going, we battle on, and we rebuild the spirit for the next game. We’ve managed to do that every time this season, so I don’t think that will be a problem.”
