Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray had said that he felt that the Sky Blues were hard done by after losing at Rochdale on penalties after a 1-1 draw after extra time.
“We feel a bit hard done by,” said Mowbray to the Coventry Telegraph.
“We’ve watched it back and George clearly isn’t offside, let alone interfering with play. I don’t know if there’s a bit of confusion about the new rules and I’ll have a word with the officials about it – not that it will do any good because we’re out of the competition.
“That’s disappointing because after a dreadful 20/25 minutes there was only one team in charge of the football match. We didn’t lose a game, we lost a penalty shoot-out, but we can take comfort from the way we played against a very direct side.
“We go to Millwall on Saturday for what will probably be a similar sort of game – certainly a tough one – but we can take some comfort from the way we fought back.”
