We Are In This Job To Deal With Pressure - Mowbray

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he and his side are in the job to deal with pressure.

The pressure comes after City failed to get at least a point against Crewe and now need something or results to go their way from Sunday's final game of the season at Crewe.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole, Mowbray said: “If we’d have won it wouldn’t have mattered what anybody else had done but you expect those sorts of results at this time of the year.

“Our recent home performances had given us the confidence and the belief that we could get a result but this was always a dangerous game for us and we shot ourselves in the foot.

“We shouldn’t be surprised because of our home results this season but I genuinely believed we were ready to push on. We went to Bristol the other week and played exceptionally well with the same set-up and the same team apart from one injured full-back.

“At half-time I thought we could go on and get something from the game – we just needed to get the next goal and then they would have felt the immense pressure but it didn’t happen, it didn’t come. At 3-0 it’s game over, even though we did get one back.”

“It would have been nice to have the final week with no tension but it’s professional football – we’re in this job to deal with pressure and we’ve got to play for the football club – be resolute and try to do the job.”
