Both managers have experience of playing for the opposing side as Chris Coleman opted to play for Blackburn rather than the Sky Blues and Sam Allardyce played for City on 29 occasions in the league in 1983/84 before he was allowed to join Huddersfield in July 1984.
"People have asked me who I would have prefered out of Blackburn and Sunderland," said Coleman to the CT.
"I genuinely wasn't bothered about who we got but it will be nice to go back. They are equally tough Premier League teams and we will be the under-dogs away from home.
"Maybe, it is better we have got Blackburn in terms of the distance our supporters will have to travel. "There was nothing in the game the other night when Blackburn won in extra time.
Coleman admitted that although this would be a tough game, it would not be mission impossible and said: "I can't say it will be an impossible task for us but we can certainly cause an upset - absolutely.
"It will be tough of course, and they will be fancied but we are not going for a day out, we are going for a result."
Tickets for the game are priced at £15 for adults and £5 concessions and go on general sale on Tuesday morning.
Eleven coaches have so far been filled with the club charging £10 per person.
