Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that he is determined to build the club again.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Pressley said: “I know in football that supporters want to see instant success but I think for Coventry the club has been in decline over the last 15 years and there needs to be a period of stability when foundations are put in place, and that’s what I’m trying to do. I want us to play the type of football we’re playing just now and to make the supporters proud. We can’t turn the corner immediately.

"With a young team there will be disappointments and setbacks but we are determined to build the club again.

“What happens in football is you see progress and then there’s a phase where you start thinking and believing you’ve made more progress than is the case.

"You are always in danger of the expectations growing too quickly, and I don’t want that because we’re a young team and we will experience difficult periods this season.

“Dealing with those periods is going to be part of the development of the group, but I’m confident we can deal with the setbacks. But my targets are the development of the young players, putting the foundations in place and avoiding relegation, and if we do that then, considering what we have had to endure as a group over the last few months, I think that is very good progress and will give the club foundations to move forward in the summer.”
