Ward The Referee For City V Tranmere

The currently appointed referee for Coventry City's home game against Tranmere Rovers on Wednesday night is Gavin Ward from Surrey.

The 31 year old got into refereeing through his step dad and is in his third season on the referees list after spending five years as an assistant referee.

His last City game was the 2-1 defeat at Brighton in November 2011. His only two other games were the 4-1 home defeat to Bristol City back in March 2011 and the 1-1 draw with Preston on April 17th 2010.

This season, he has had 23 matches and shown 80 yellow cards and nine reds. His last match was Burnley's 1-0 win against Crystal Palace.

His assistants are Daniel Leach and John Scott with Marc Perry the fourth official.
