The centre half who has been loaned by Coventry City to Doncaster for a month made his Doncaster debut at Sheffield Wednesday. Ward gave Doncaster the lead in the 40th minute with a bicycle kick and James O'Connor netted in the second half to give Rovers a 2-0 win.
That win for Doncaster dropped City out of the top ten in the Championship table.
Gary McSheffrey scored for Leeds United in their 2-1 home defeat against Walsall. McSheffrey caught former City keeper Clayton Ince going walkabouts and scored from distance.
Former City youngster Liam Nicell scored for Rugby Town in a 2-2 draw with Hemel Hempstead whilst Leamington beat Merthyr 5-3. Atherstone beat Bury 3-2 whilst Bedworth's game at AFC Sudbury was postponed.
